About Us

Some People Call me Maurice (SPCMM) came together to provide roots-rock music largely forgotten by other bands. Think: The Band meets Van Morrison and they go out to Stephen Stills' house and listen to Train while grilling some ribs with the Barenaked Ladies. This musical pot-luck truly describes what the band is all about.

SPCMM plays a mix of popular rock cover songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. And beautiful vocal harmonies, a superb acoustic sound, and a knack for playing the right song at the right time really set this band apart from the rest. SPCMM can provide mellower background music for your event or a full blown acoustic concert with upbeat, dance friendly, sing-along songs. Either way, fans of Classic/Rock, Americana & Roots music will enjoy a fun-filled evening of great acoustic music!

SPCMM consists of Robert Torres (Bass/Vocals), Steve Schmitt (Guitar/Vocals), Sarah Torres (Vocals/Percussion); three people who are passionate about music and have all been performing professionally for years.  Together they have performed at wineries, breweries, fundraisers, corporate functions, private parties, and bars around the DC Metro area.
